Sunday Sundowns+ // Summer 2021

Last May, I officially joined The Ambient Mafia, so I've been keeping pretty busy on Sundays this year playing for Sunday Sundowns. I'll usually start with a couple of hours of relaxed melodic and organic house in my own stream and finish with an hour of chill for Sunday Sundowns. The music is great to throw on in the background while you work. Please enjoy 😅

I was also invited to play for the Friends & Family Virtual Campout in June and Unison 8 in July. Unfortunately, I can't find any recordings of those shows :(

Sunday Sundowns // May 2021

This month I officially joined The Ambient Mafia. I’ve been spinning with them for the past few months, but our history goes back much further. We’ve all DJ’d together for a couple of decades with Stargaze and other social groups.

I played three sets with them this month. I haven’t done a chill mix in some time, so it’s been a challenge finding the right tone and options. Fortunately, I feel like this will be a great opportunity to explore my chill side, so I’m grateful to be a part of the group. Thanks!

Unison 7

The Ambient Mafia invited me back to play at Unison 7. This time the benefit was for the Asian Pacific Fund, whose mission is to strengthen the Asian and Pacific Islander community in the Bay Area.

I was fortunate to be offered a prime slot on Saturday night. Considering how amped up everyone would be at that point, I decided to play aggressively edgy downtempo afro tech and dark disco. I also got to try out my Snarky Now Playing theme and experimented with color keying via LED H20 lighting and a greenscreen t-shirt. The results were almost overwhelming but it seems like everyone enjoyed it :)

Unison 6

The Ambient Mafia invited me to play at Unison 6. The two-day livestream was a benefit for the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, a non-profit strategy and action center based in Oakland, California. Together we raised over $10k to help break the cycle of disinvestment and incarceration in communities of color.

My set was pretty wacky. It's a mix of afro tech, downtempo organic house, and a little dark disco. I was the 2nd opener on a Friday evening so I tried to make it energetic for the after-work crowd while sticking to downtempo tempos.
