I was actually making this mix at a time when the streets were in the kind of chaos only Oakland can provide (thus the title and album art).
I'm a bit too old to be playing this stuff, so I made a new alias. Like?
I hear dubstep is dead. Maybe so, but I like where it has gone recently. Perhaps it's now too soft for the truly hardcore(!) but I enjoy the pop-song + creative dubstep-beats hybrid, particularly played with the happy trance vibe that's been running through D&B in the last few years.
I'm very surprised and amazed by some of the sounds that are coming out of these two genres. It's a kind of enthusiastic, positive energy I haven't seen since '98 (or even '92-93).
So that's what this mix is: happy/edgy D&B and dubstep with bit of raver riffs, very interesting sounds, happy vocals, hints of politics, and all around mischief.
