I’ve got a short window for making funds, and have been planning to go to MAX, so this weekend I went ahead and registered for the Adobe MAX conference coming up in October.
I attended last year when it was in San Francisco and certainly learned a lot from the sessions. I also learned it’s best to register early because the best sessions fill up fast.
This year is especially attractive for a number of reasons. This will be my first year as an Adobe User Group Manager for SilvaFUG; I’m very curious to see what’s in store for us in the big manager meeting on the 4th. Also in store is FITC’s LAFlashapalooza IV on Saturday Oct 3rd – a fantastic all-day FREE meet-up hosted by LAFlash. Definitely going to be a party.
As for labs and session, I’ve scored pretty well. First off, I know downtown LA and have little expectation of being onsite and on time for any 8am / 9am sessions. My earliest start at 10:30am – much more convenient for the late night meet-ups.
My longest lab is a three hour hands-on overview of four Flex frameworks. I’ve talked a TON of smack about frameworks (they all suck), but I should probably learn the major ones are so I can speak the lingo when I trash-talk.
There’s also a lot of great sessions on P2P in Flash and new video so I grabbed up sessions on Flash Collaborative Services, Adobe Strobe, Adobe Stratus, RTMFP, and AIR for mobile apps. Some of the P2P session appear to be redundant, but cover different angles. For example – one is with the engineering team while another will show off current projects using the technology.
Here’s my list:
- Real-Time Collaboration Deep Dive: Using Adobe Flash Collaboration Service
- P2P on the Flash Platform with RTMFP
- Advanced Data Visualization with Flex
- Adobe Strobe: Building Media Experiences in Flex
- Using Flex Frameworks to Build Data-Driven Applications (3 hour lab)
- Building Mobile Applications with Adobe AIR
- Building a P2P Video Chat Adobe AIR Application with Adobe Stratus
- Social Media Experiences with Flash Media and RTMFP
- Interactive Live Video Experiences
See y’all there!
